The 'Healthy Habitats Exhibition' is taking place
from the 11 July to 23 August 2008 at ENFO.
The exhibition features woodland recreation, habitat restoration
and biodiversity on the Coillte estate -
- Coillte has over 2,000 km of walking routes across some
of the most beautiful Irish landscape.
- In addition, Coillte maintains 150 recreation sites and
10 forest parks.
- In total, 88,000 hectares of the estate is managed with
biodiversity as the primary objective.
Some of the country’s rarest habitats are being restored
with the aid of EU LIFE-Nature funding (blanket bogs, raised
bogs and priority woodlands). This work ensures a healthy
habitat for many endangered plant, animal and bird species.
On display at the exhibition will be samples of native Irish
tree and shrub species from Coillte nurseries and outdoor
furniture from Coillte sawmills.
In addition, Coillte are holding a series of lunchtime lectures
in ENFO on Biodiversity and Nature Conservation and Woodland
and Bog Restoration during the course of the exhibition.
