Bord Gáis Energy launches 'Think Beyond' App for iPhone

 

Bord Gáis Energy (BGE) has launched its 'Think Beyond' App for the iPhone, which is the first of its kind in Ireland from an energy utility and is the first step in Bord Gáis Energy’s commitment to develop smart phone applications in line with customer requirements.

The Think Beyond App will give customers greater control over their energy accounts and the opportunity for gas customers to submit accurate meter readings.

The Think Beyond App will give customers access to -

  • Current energy account balance
  • Billing dates

  • Payment amounts & payment dates

  • Directory of customer contact numberss

  • Safety messages
  • - and
  • Instructions on how to read gas/electricity meters.

John Mullins, Chief Executive, Bord Gáis Energy said - “This is the first step in a strategic programme. Bord Gáis Energy is committed to using and developing new/smart technologies to improve and develop the customer experience and how they interact with their energy accounts and Bord Gáis Energy.

"Our vision for the future is that customers will be able to interact and keep up to date with their energy accounts via mobile devices. Today, we are launching the iPhone app - in the coming months, we will expand functionally and also extend the app to other mobile devices.”

Additional functionality will include the option to pay gas or electricity bills via the app, push notification to the app when a bill has been issued, when a meter read is due and when a boiler service is due.

Further down the line, electricity meter reading, the ability to add an appliance servicing account and smart meter integration are all likely options.
