It’s all systems go for a new battery recycling scheme
in Ireland following the making of new Regulations by
Mr. John Gormley, TD, Minister for the Environment,
Heritage, and Local Government to transpose and implement
a new EU Batteries Directive which comes into operation
across the EU on 26 September next.

critics claim that a number of compliance schemes are
on the brink of failure and that many organisations
are failing to embrace initiatives designed to promote
re-use of IT equipment.

Abuse by commercial businesses of recycling
centres which are intended for domestic/household use
only, has led Meath County Council to introduce a new
payment system that will see charges for green waste
for large trailers increase from €2 to €100.
