ESB reaction to 17.5% electricity price increase

ESB has issued its statement on the 17.5% electricity increase, announced by the Commission for Energy Regulation (Click Here).

'An electricity price increase of 17.5% is considerable - but, in the context of escalating fuel costs, is to be expected. It is significantly less, however, than the figures for increases recently predicted.

'ESB understands that the Commission for Energy Regulation (CER) intends to review the situation later in the year and the €300 million contribution announced by ESB yesterday (Thursday July 10th) will significantly abate any future price consideration.

'The CER’s planned review later this year will obviously depend on how international fuel prices behave in the coming months'.
