Coillte Nurseries are holding an open weekend at Clone Nursery,
Aughrim, Co Wicklow on the 27th, 28th and 29th of June between
2 and 5pm.
The weekend is intended to provide visitors with information
needed to make good gardening and landscaping decisions. It
also aims to promote public awareness on the importance of
planting native Irish species - particularly in relation to
biodiversity.
Visitors can learn about seed sowing, planting and maintenance
of trees. One free sapling will be given to each family
who visits the nursery. The public will also have the opportunity
to purchase a wide variety of potted plants/shrubs at
hugely discounted rates.
Coillte Nurseries produce a comprehensive range of forest
seed, trees and shrubs for both the Irish and European markets
and have sales of approximately 35 million plants each year.
Along with producing plants for commercial forestry, Coillte
Nurseries produce plants for domestic gardens, REPS and general
landscaping purposes. Coillte Nurseries produces many native
trees and shrubs and has a wide range of native potted plants.
