Comhar Sustainable Development Council (SDC) is inviting
proposals from interested individuals and organisations to
prepare a briefing paper on how best to integrate environment
and sustainable development dimensions into the work of County
and City Development Boards - specifically through the Boards’
proposed new environment sub-committees.
A green paper on Local Government has just been published
(May 2008), with the view to developing a white paper. It
is envisaged that this will provide the framework for strengthened
local democracy and local participation.
Comhar SDC has decided that one of its key priorities for
2008 is to bring forward proposals to address priorities for
developing local participatory involvement in implementing
sustainable development at local level and to examine best
practice in this area.
