WYG to offer health & safety training for construction industry

 

WYG Ireland, consultant to the built, natural and social environment will hold an important seminar on the topic of health and safety for senior executives in the construction industry on Tuesday, 17 June at 9.30am in the Westin Hotel, Dublin.

The seminar will look at the increasingly important role played by health and safety issues - not just in ensuring the welfare of the workforce, but in the tendering and bidding process.

"Increasingly, senior executives and management of construction companies, design practices and property developers need to be aware of the current requirements and future proposals to ensure that they stay compliant with health and safety matters. This seminar will address these issues and will offer some real hands-on advice in tackling the challenges presented for senior executives" - said Ray Moore, Group Managing Director, WYG Ireland.

Guest speakers at the seminar will include -

  • Barrett Chapman, partner in the Construction Group of McCann FitzGerald, Solicitors - who will discuss health and safety appointments in the context of the New Works Contract and Conditions of Engagement;
  • Peter J McCabe, construction skills and safety specialist and former Director of Manpower, Safety and Business Development in the Construction Industry Federation - will focus on Safety Performance and Competency - and
  • Owen O’Brien, Head of Health and Safety with the Bowen Group - who will discuss health and safety issues from a contractor’s point of view.

Speakers from WYG will include Roger Gillespie, Manager, WYG Training - who will outline current best practice and requirements from GB and Northern Ireland.
