Repak 2008 Service Providers Conference -
'Packaging Recovery Towards 2011'

The 2008 Repak Service Providers Conference was held on the 2nd April at the Osprey Hotel in Naas, Co. Kildare.

There are 145 Public and Private Recovery Operators registered by the company, who provide services to Repak to facilitate the recycling of packaging waste arising within the State. All Service Providers - as well as other stakeholders - were invited.

The theme of the conference year was - 'Packaging Recovery Towards 2011' - looking at how the recovery and recycling industry is performing and what challenges it faces as it proceeds towards the accomplishment of the EU benchmark recovery and recycling targets of 2011 for packaging waste.

Repak, as the national compliance scheme (Approved Body) of packaging and packaging waste, has been given the challenge to achieve these targets this year. The company invited Service Providers to assist with the development and execution of a strategy to meet the many mutual challenges that face us all.

Representatives from both Local Authorities and private sector Recovery Operators were in attendance.
