Response Group started out as a provider of preventative maintenance and operating contracts on treatment plants and pumping stations.

Over time, however, the company has, in addition, evolved into undertaking design, build and operate (DBO) contracts on large scale industrial and municipal plants.

Response Group now offers turnkey solutions across the full range of water management requirements from drinking water to the treatment of wastewater and industrial effluent.

Innovative Technology
Response Group
has proved highly adept at being able to identify and develop the most innovative technologies for water management. For example, it completed the successful installation of a new UV disinfection system to tackle the cryptosporidium outbreak at the Terryland water treatment plant in County Galway.

Other recent project wins for Response Group include the Holmestown Leachate Treatment Plant in County Wexford and the Shannon Airport Sewerage Scheme.

Response Group
aims to develop long-term relationships with its clients and its success in this regard is reflected in the level of operating and maintenance contracts the company performs - both on the plants it has manufactured and those supplied by others. Indeed, it is the repeat business won by the company that has allowed it to grow from a start-up business to become a leader in its field in just ten years.

Response Group also supplies products to meet the daily requirements of treatment plants, which are run by local authorities and industry. Indeed, The company significantly enhanced this aspect of its business - along with its operations expertise - with last year's acquisition of CSL - a key service and maintenance company in the water and wastewater industry.

Carlow-based CSL has now been integrated with Response Group's existing operations and maintenance division. The acquisition has increased the scale of Response Group by about 20%.

Like Response Group, CSL also has a strong track record of introducing new technology to the Irish market in order to improve efficiency and productivity. These innovations include a satellite-based monitoring system, AMR (drive-by) water meter reading systems, detection of gas build-up in landfills and personal protection in hazardous industrial environments.

Future Development
An overriding emphasis on efficiency and reducing costs is central to the company's development strategy. Response Group has now developed the necessary critical mass to become a major player within the Irish water management and environmental services market.
